2025 Fairfax HOG “Iron Horse Round-Up” Featured Ride to 4863ft Spruce Knob, the highest point in West Virginia

An approximately 40-mile, one-hour ride to Spruce Knob, Davis, West Virginia with a brief stop at Seneca Rocks enroute.  The ride will be on West Virginia Route 32 to U.S. Route 33, with approximately 10.5 miles on a narrow, winding but paved road to the top of Spruce Knob.  There are two switchbacks and plenty of twisties, however this IS NOT a road to test your high-speed abilities.  Occasionally, there might be gravel wash on the road.  However, the ride up the mountain IS NOT technically challenging.  Parking is on asphalt.  A one-half-mile, level gravel path surrounds the knob and provides incredible scenic views all around.  There is also a two-story observation tower for you to climb as well.  Restroom facilities are available. 

After viewing the knob, we will be eating lunch at the family-friendly, moderately-priced Gateway Restaurant.  Parking at the restaurant, while level, is on gravel so be forewarned.

Safety Briefing in front of the Canaan Valley Resort Hotel, 9:30 A.M.  The safety briefing is MANDATORY.  Miss the briefing, even part of it, you miss the ride!
